Music Ministries

"To make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth. Serve the Lord with gladness; come into his presence with singing!” - Psalm 100

MUSIC MINISTRY MISSION STATEMENT

We use our talents to inspire our community of faith to deepen their worship, grow in discipleship, and reach out to others.

St. Paul’s is blessed with a vibrant, active music ministry. From the Wesleyan Choir to the Chapel Ringers, from our praise band, Lifeboat to the St. Paul’s Brass Ensemble, there is a place for everyone to make a joyful noise! Be a part of a connected musical community, share fellowship with other musicians, and bring the gift of music to worship, lifting the congregation closer to God!

ENSEMBLES & OPPORTUNITIES

The Wesleyan Choir

Open to singers from senior high through adulthood

The Wesleyan Choir normally offers music at the 10:30 am service during the program year. We sing a wide variety of music from long ago to pieces that were written just for us! Throughout the year, we offer special music such as Lessons & Carols on Christmas Eve and various cantatas associated with important church year celebrations. Join these talented singers to praise God with choral beauty!

Rehearsals: Thursdays - 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm

The Chapel Ringers

Open to ringers from senior high through adulthood

The Chapel Ringers is our five octave English Handbell Ensemble. We usually ring for services once a month, often joining the choir. The Chapel Ringers often take part in handbell festivals in the region and play at a high level.

Interested in taking part? Music literacy and a joyful heart are the only requirements. No handbell experience is necessary!

Rehearsals: Thursdays - 6:30 pm - 7:20 pm

St. Paul’s Brass Ensemble

Normally open to brass players from senior high through adulthood

St. Paul’s United Methodist Church is fortunate to have an in-house brass ensemble! The group plays for services throughout the year, but most often at special services such as Easter.

Do you play a brass instrument? Reach out to Dr. Boyle and we will get you involved!

Rehearsals: Arranged with Dr. Boyle

Lifeboat

Open to musicians from senior high through adulthood

Interested in contemporary worship styles? Do you play guitar, bass, keyboard, drums, or sing? Then Lifeboat, our praise band,  is for you! The band usually plays at the 10:30 am service about every six weeks or so and is currently led by Craig Slusser.

Rehearsals: Arranged with Craig Slusser

Children’s Music

St. Paul’s is currently in a transition phase with children and youth music, but things are happening! Through the Children’s Ministry, Ms. Erin Soza is organizing musical activities with the assistance of Becky Deutsch and Candace Robinson, children will make music this fall.

Look for program growth as we move to the spring and summer!

Rehearsals: Arranged with Ms. Erin, Mrs. Becky, and Mrs. Candance

Song Leader Opportunities

Open to singers from senior high through adulthood

At our 8:30 am service during the program year and during services throughout the summer, we have opportunities for singers to help lead congregational music making. This can be as simple as leading the hymns or even offering special music of your own. Interested, contact Mark A. Boyle, our Director of Music Ministries at maboyle@stpaulsumc.com.
